Fun in the Sun or Fun in the Rain??

So Lou and I made our first adventure in the new Jeep and I must say it was quite roomy and comfortable. We headed towards St. Louis at about 4 am Friday morning April 23....as I was sleeping in my new comfortable passenger seat I awaken to the dreaded rumble strips and about have a heart attack, which at that point we decide maybe Lou needs to pull over and I took over the driving!

Eventually we make it through Kansas (our favorite state to drive through)and the pouring down rain for the majority of the drive to the wonderful city of St. Louis. We pulled into our friends Cory and Amy's house and were greeted with a wonderful homemade dinner waiting for us on the table...what great service and hospitality!

The whole point of our trip was so that Lou and Cory could race in a Missouri Harescramble, so Sunday morning we got up bright and early and were greeted with more wonderful rain and tornado warnings, headed to Bob Evan's (which I must admit I was SUPER excited they had a Bob Evan's....it is racing tradition for my dad and I to eat Bob Evan's before a race!) and then drove 1.5 hours to the track. We got there unloaded the bikes and sat in the cold misty rain until the race began. The boys of course were busy tinkering with their bikes and getting pumped up for the big race! :)

I of course was busy trying to take some good pictures but the boys weren't that interested in smiling!

As for the race, it was a 13 mile loop into the woods and on part of a track, the boys did really well. However Mr. Cory ran out of gas and was unable to finish and Lou achieved his goal of finishing the race without any broken bones! So all in all it was a good, cold, wet day!
