Life with a 2 Year Old

Our sweet baby girl is 2.5 years old, where in the world did the time go? The bigger question is where in the world did our sweet baby girl go?

Mia is definitely testing her boundaries and becoming her own little person.  She is independent, sassy and sweet all rolled into one! Mia LOVES music and dancing.  She will start to dance as soon as she hears music and she loves to sing.  Mia will dance around the living room with her baby-doll or she tries to get Eli to dance with her.  You can also at times catch Mia singing a song.  Her favorites are, Twinkle Twinkle, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Wheels on the Bus, Alice the Camel, Five Little Monkeys, Hickory Dickory Dock, This Old Man, The Ants Go Marching and the ABC's.  Mia knows the words to her favorite songs and she loves for Lou and I to sing with her at bedtime.

Mia is our little OCD child! She has a hard time being dirty, we have to tell her it is OK to have dirt on her feet when she is outside. I have noticed that Mia likes to line things up and to stack things. She likes things to be in there place MOST of the time! :)

Mia is quite the little helper! She wants to do everything on her own or at least help you do everything. She likes to make her own waffles, sandwiches, she likes to try and dress herself and brush her own teeth.  She carries her stool around the house so she can get into drawers and see what we are doing on the counters. She likes to put our shoes away in the laundry room, put her dirty clothes in the hamper and she LOVES to help me fold the laundry.

Mia is very sensitive, she gets very upset if you raise your voice at her and she will tell you to "be nice" to her. Or she will tell you "no no no"! Her feelings are very hurt when you yell at her and it is very hard to stay mad at her. Mia also at times gets upset when Eli cries. She will tell him "it's OK little buddy" and will rub his head to try and soothe him.

Lately, Mia has found a new love for books! She likes to read to her babies and have a story before bed.  She will point at pictures in the books and tell you what they are.  Her favorite books are: Goodnight Moon and I am a Bunny.  Some nights she will even read to Daddy and I and it all but melts are heart to listen to her make up the words of the book.

We also have a new pet leopard!! We have an imaginary leopard in our house that Mia can hear walking on the ceiling and he sleeps at the end of Mia's bed.  It is rather funny because out of the blue Mia will tell you she can hear a leopard on the ceiling and then we have to look and listen for it.  Sometimes the leopard hides and will try and bite your toes!! What an imagination!

We definitely have a social butterfly on our hands.  Mia will yell across the street at the big kids and ask them if they want to see HER! She runs into school and says hello to everyone and gives hugs, high fives and knuckles to her friends on the way out the door.  We cannot leave without saying bye to everyone.  Mia has a special place in her heart for her dear friend Alfred at school! Her whole day is better at school once Alfred arrives.  Mia also still loves to be outside, she continues to enjoy playing in her sandbox, jumping on her trampoline and riding her strider.

Miss Mia goes to bed around 7:30 pm and sleeps until 7ish, she is potty trained but requires a pull up at nap and nighttime.  She wears a size 7 shoe and her clothes range from 18 months to 24 months.

You know your name is Mia Elliott, that you are 2 years old and you know the letters in your name are M-I-A.  You try to count but it usually ends up being 1, 2,9,10! You have to have every little boo-boo even imaginary ones kissed by Mommy.  You love to ride on your Daddy's shoulders and especially when he lifts you up to touch the ceiling you feel really big. You love your brother even though at times you hit and kick him and you continue to have a special love for Ivy. Even though at times your Daddy and I want to pull our hair out because you are being a bossy two year old, we would never change anything about you!
