Wow, where did the year go? Sunday was Mia's first birthday. This year seemed to just fly right by for me, however Lou felt as though it took forever! I must admit I have been a tad bit emotional this last week there have been a few changes in our household, first of all we changed Mia's bedroom so not only did she turn one, but she get a new purple big girl room! We have always noticed that Mia would have a hard time sleeping when the garage door would open or shut and when Lou got up early in the morning to get ready for work; Mia would wake up because of the sounds of the bathroom where right against her wall. So we finally painted the spare bedroom and moved her stuff in there! We never thought it would bother Mia, but for four days she wouldn't nap in her new room! She was definitely weirded out but the unfamiliar room, so after four LONG days of not only Mia crying but myself crying she finally realized that is was all the same stuff just a different room!
Sunday morning Mia woke up to Grandma Hollen and I wishing her a great big happy birthday! We had a small owl themed birthday party. My mom and sister flew out to celebrate the big day with us which meant a lot to Lou and I. We invited some of my co-workers and friends and we had a great lunch of veggie pizza, buffalo chicken dip, Anne's famous artichoke dip, fruit and yogurt and of course pink punch. The food was amazing, the decorations were super cute and I couldn't have done it without Mom and Anne's help. For those of you that don't know, it is my dream to be a party/wedding planner!! Anne and I talk about starting our own business all the time, one of these days it might just happen. My mom also has been known to refer to me as faux Martha!! :) What can I say I enjoy trying to be crafty!!
The birthday girl was blessed with LOTS of amazing birthday presents, Lou and I bought her a shopping cart and the women I work with actually got her a Little Tikes Play Kitchen which I am so excited to put together for her.
Last but definitely not least I will leave you with the video of Mia devouring her owl cupcake :)

Glad I was there to see the sweetest angel turn 1 year old! I wouldn't have missed it for the world! Wish I could still be there!!

Grandpa Jeff loved watching the cupcake video. He will be excited to visit in May for a zoo trip and probably a visit to Ft. Collins with Mia along for a day out in one of his favorite places. I am excited too....of course! Grandma Julie
