Then when I first meet Jackie (Mia's babysitter) she informed me that she had used cloth diapers on Logan since birth and she as getting ready to put Liam in them as well. I told her how I very briefly tried them and became overwhelmed. She gave me some good tips, such as she waits to start using them until the boys are about four months and they aren't pooping after every feed....smart lady! That way you don' have quite as many to wash! She also told me that I was washing them all wrong, all you have to do is wash them in hot with an extra rinse cycle to get all the soap out of them. There you have it I was convinced I could do this! As Lou will tell you at one point in time our garage looked like we had stock in Huggies, we had multiple boxes of diapers and wipes that I had bought with coupons while they were on sale. I told myself that I would not buy anymore diapers that once those were all gone I was going to go back to cloth and REALLY do it this time.
I went down to the basement, dug out all the diapers, re-washed them and got them ready. I must admit I was secretly really excited! I know, who secretly is excited about dumping their toddlers poop in the toilet and washing dirty diapers, but I really was! The Huggies were quickly disappearing and the time was getting closer and closer. I talked to Lou and told him I really wanted to try this again, but needed him to be on board with it. He grumbled "OK" probably all the while thinking this is never going to stick! We are getting ready to start week two of cloth diapers and I must admit, this is so easy! What was I thinking that I couldn't do this? It is so easy I actually kick myself for not sticking it out longer the first time around. I do admit there have been a time or two when I have slightly gagged while emptying a diaper but really it is not nearly as bad as I imagined it to be. Mia doesn't seem to notice any difference and I must admit she looks pretty darn cute in the diapers!
